Donae Cangelosi Chramosta
The Contessa, a published writer, philanthropist, community advocate, style setter, and influencer is self-proclaimed shopaholic, fashionista and lover of all things vintage luxury. She was christened The Vintage Contessa by friends and family and has become an influencer in Houston and throughout the world. Initially she launched her career in 1990 after graduating from Texas A & M University. Beginning in advertising, she transitioned into business development, marketing and sales with her family business, Cangelosi Company in 1991. She traveled internationally buying stone and marketing her family business, the highest quality stone company in this southern region of the United States. While traveling internationally for business, she was personally searching for the perfect designer accessories at prices lower than the US market offered.
In 2003, while dating her husband Rob, Donae began buying vintage designer items domestically and internationally through Rob’s contacts. After marrying in 2005, Chramosta’s friends were so interested in her newly acquired luxury designer pieces, she started buying pre owned designer handbags and reselling them under the website name of Times Past Collection while still serving in the capacity of President of Cangelosi.
In 2011, she officially joined Times Past full time, creating and founding The Vintage Contessa as a website and retail arm of the predominantly wholesale preowned luxury business. Her years of luxury marketing experience, paired with her unparalleled love for fashion, contribute to her exceptional skill of sourcing the finest authentic desirable pieces from around the globe. Clients have the opportunity to visit their showroom, shop their website and meet them at international trade shows.
Chramosta has extensively built their business while raising a family, contributing to local and national philanthropic efforts in NYC, Vail/Beaver Creek, and Bridge Hampton. Chramosta even published a children’s book co written with her daughter launched at Tootsies in Houston and Kirna Zabet in NYC.
Since launching her professional career, Chramosta’s list of accreditations, awards and honors include 2018 Fashion X Style Setter, Heroes for Children “Spirit of Allie and Taylor Award” winner, Crime Stoppers Board Member and Safe School Award Recipient. Chramosta was named one of the Most Stylish People of 2015 by Houston Chronicle, 100 Most Creative in Houston by Houston Press and 25 Most Beautiful Houstonians 2013 by H Magazine.
As President of her family business, Cangelosi Co, she was named as a Texas A& M College of Liberal Arts Aggie Leader and chosen as one of the Aggie 100 while Houston Business Journal selected her family business as one of the Top 25 Houston Family Owned Business and Houston Small Business 100. Her inspirational speaking history experience includes the Art Institute of Houston 2017 Commencement Speaker, U of H Friends of Womens Studies Table Talk Conversationalist , panelist, key note speaker and charity ambassador.
In her Art Institute of Houston 2017 Commencement Speach address Chramosta quoted one of her biggest inspirations stated by Mitch Albom of Tuesdays with Morrie. “The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
Her historical hero is Audrey Hepburn, not just for her her classic style with a twist of whimsy but more so for her humanitarian heart. Chramosta also took a quo from Audrey’s quote “ As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”
Chramosta uses her voice as an influencer in the fashion and philanthropic community to change the world around her for the greater good. She is not only a fashion fanatic, but a model for women in business, an exemplary mother and a commendable philanthropist.
Her podcast “Styling Social Justice” with Rania Mankerious will air weekly presenting two fierce women with a flare for fashion, a love of faith, family and country, leading a unifying modern movement. Together they present conversations to make tomorrow a better, healthier, safer place by empowering people from all sectors to come together for global public safety.
